Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour has once again confirmed her status as a rising star of the discipline by being named the best female gymnast at the 19th African Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which concluded Sunday in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Following a competition she largely dominated, Nemour impressed with her technical mastery, elegance, and remarkable consistency, establishing herself as the definitive figure of these continental games. Performance after performance, the Algerian left no room for doubt, outclassing her opponents with rare ease.

The 19-year-old Algerian athlete swept five gold medals—team all-around, individual all-around, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise—earning her the title of best gymnast of this 19th edition.

Her crowning achievement was further highlighted by the presence of the President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), now known as World Gymnastics, Morinari Watanabe of Japan, who personally presented her with the trophy.

Beyond this individual distinction, Nemour leaves these championships with an impressive medal haul, confirming her dominance on the continent. She secured several titles across different specialties, consolidating her reputation as a complete and formidable gymnast.

More than just a victory, this achievement is part of an exceptional trajectory. Already at the pinnacle of the sport, Nemour is no longer simply shining; she is building, competition after competition, a true legacy for African and Algerian gymnastics.

The 2024 Olympic champion dominated the women’s all-around with a total of 56.498 points, claiming the continental title and confirming her status as the African benchmark for the discipline.

She also excelled on individual apparatus, particularly the uneven bars, where her technical precision and the quality of her execution set her apart from her primary competitors.
