The Algerian national judo teams (seniors) dominated the "Algiers African Open" international tournament, held on Sunday at La Coupole of the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex, by capturing the majority of podium finishes in both the men's and women's categories.
The Greens secured no fewer than 33 medals, distributed as follows: 8 gold, 10 silver, and 15 bronze, thereby achieving the best medal haul of the tournament.
Aside from certain weight categories where they faced some competition from the Iranians, Russians, and British, the Algerians swept almost all of the other titles.
During the first two days of competition, which featured the juniors and cadets, the Algerians had already distinguished themselves by capturing the majority of the podiums in both the boys' and girls' events.
According to the organizers, 105 judokas (70 men and 35 women) representing 11 countries from various continents participated in the senior events, which took place on Sunday to conclude this international tournament.
