The national football team's training session, scheduled for Sunday, May 31, on the main pitch of the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki at 5:00 p.m., as part of the preparations for the 2026 World Cup (June 11 – July 19), will be open to the public, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced in a statement on Tuesday.
"As part of its preparation for the 2026 World Cup, the national team will hold a training session open to the public and the media on Sunday, May 31, 2026 (5:00 p.m.), on the main pitch of the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki. The FAF invites fans and media representatives to attend this session, which will be accessible in its entirety," the statement specified.
Earlier in the day, national coach Vladimir Petkovic will hold a press conference at 3:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki, during which he will announce the list of players selected for the global tournament.
The "Greens" began their preparation camp on Monday at the National Technical Center (CTN) in Sidi Moussa ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Twenty-two players took part in the first training session, which lasted an hour and a half under the guidance of the national coach. Petkovic used the opportunity to assess the fitness levels of the players present and initiate physical and tactical work.
Before flying to the United States, the Greens will play a friendly match against the Netherlands on Wednesday, June 3, at the Rotterdam Stadium (7:45 p.m., Algerian time), followed by a final preparation test against Bolivia on Wednesday, June 10, in Kansas City.
Returning to the world stage after missing the last two editions, Algeria will compete in Group J alongside Argentina (the defending champions), Austria, and Jordan.
The "Greens" will kick off their tournament run on Wednesday, June 17, against the Argentine world champions at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (2:00 a.m., Algerian time).
