The Algerian national football team will play a prestigious friendly match tomorrow, Wednesday, against the Netherlands at the De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam (7:45 PM, Algerian time), as part of their preparation for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Less than two weeks before entering the most prestigious of international competitions, the national team will approach this confrontation with the objective of measuring its true level against one of the benchmarks of European and world football.

This fixture is undoubtedly the toughest test for the "Greens" before the start of the World Cup and will offer the technical staff a valuable indicator of the group's state of preparation, which began over a week ago at the National Technical Center (CTN) in Sidi Moussa (Algiers).

"Our match against the Dutch team will allow us to know the limits of our players' capabilities. It will be very similar to our first World Cup fixture against Argentina," national coach Vladimir Petkovic stated on Sunday during a press conference.

For the "Greens", the stakes go beyond the simple result. A convincing performance against an opponent of the Netherlands' caliber would allow them to approach the World Cup with more confidence and serenity.

The objective will also be to confirm the progress shown in recent months and to demonstrate the group's ability to compete with the best nations on the planet.

Above all, this match should allow Petkovic to closely evaluate his players' aptitude to meet the demands of the very highest level and to refine the final tactical adjustments before the World Cup.

Facing the Algerians, the Dutch will present themselves with solid arguments. Virgil van Dijk's (Liverpool) teammates are on an impressive run of ten matches without defeat across all competitions, confirming their rise in power just steps away from the global event.

Led by former "Oranje" international Ronald Koeman, the Dutch national team is among the dark horses for the upcoming World Cup and currently sits in 7th place in the FIFA world rankings.

The Netherlands, who will play in Group F of the World Cup alongside Sweden, Tunisia, and Japan, will also approach this match with the desire to fine-tune their chemistry before the start of the competition.

This fixture will be officiated by an Austrian refereeing quartet, led by Jakob Semler, assisted by Martin Hofler and Alexander Borucki, while Christian-Petru Ciochirca will act as the fourth official.

Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties will be handled by Alan Kijas, with Josef Spurny serving as assistant VAR.

After this outing in Rotterdam, the Algerians will head to the United States where they will continue their preparation. The "Greens" will play one final friendly match on June 10 in Kansas City against Bolivia, a team that did not qualify for the World Cup. This will serve as a final dress rehearsal before taking the big leap.

Algeria will then make its World Cup debut on June 17 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, where they will lock horns with defending world champions Argentina in a highly anticipated clash scheduled for 2:00 AM (Algerian time).

Besides the "Albiceleste", Algeria will also face Jordan (June 23) and Austria (June 28).
