Subsidiaries of the Sonatrach Group signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) yesterday, Tuesday, in Algiers, with the Nigerien National Petroleum Company (SONIDEP). These agreements pertain to the establishment of a joint venture for drilling operations in Niger, seismic data processing activities, and cooperation in the field of petroleum products.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab; the Minister of Petroleum of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Hamadou Tini; and the Chief Executive Officer of the Sonatrach Group, Mr. Noureddine Daoudi, alongside executives from companies of both countries.
In this context, the first MoU was signed between the National Geophysical Company (ENAGEO) and SONIDEP, regarding the acquisition and processing of seismic data on Nigerien territory. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Hakim Issolah, CEO of ENAGEO, and Mr. Ali Saïbou Hassane, Director General of the Nigerien company.
As for the second Memorandum of Understanding, signed between the National Drilling Company (ENAFOR) and SONIDEP, it concerns the establishment of a joint venture to execute oil and gas well drilling operations on Nigerien territory. It was signed by Mr. Brahim Hamoudi, CEO of the Sonatrach subsidiary, and the Director General of the Nigerien company.
Regarding the third Memorandum of Understanding, concluded between the National Company for the Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum Products (Naftal) and SONIDEP, it pertains to cooperation in the field of petroleum product distribution in Niger. It was signed by Mr. Djamal Cherdoud, CEO of Naftal, and on the Nigerien side, by the Director General of SONIDEP.
In his speech on this occasion, Mr. Daoudi highlighted that the signed MoUs fall within the strategic vision adopted by Algeria to reinforce its position as a locomotive for development and integration in the African continent, through supporting major structural projects, developing energy infrastructure, and intensifying economic exchanges among African nations.
For his part, the Director General of SONIDEP praised the partnership embodied by the two countries in the hydrocarbons sector, expressing in his address his "gratitude" to the presidents of both nations for the dynamism they have injected into bilateral relations based on a shared political will, which is translating into concrete projects.
