Seven countries from the OPEC+ group, including Algeria, agreed on Sunday to a collective oil production increase of 188,000 barrels per day starting this upcoming July, a statement from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons indicated.
This decision was made during a meeting, held via videoconference, bringing together seven signatory countries of the OPEC+ Declaration of Cooperation (DoC) committed to voluntary OPEC+ production adjustments. Algeria participated alongside Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, and Russia, the same source specified.
In accordance with this agreement, Algeria's production quota will increase by 6,000 barrels per day in July, the statement added.
On this occasion, the seven countries reaffirmed their willingness to maintain close coordination and continuous monitoring of oil market developments, in order to adapt their decisions, if necessary, based on market conditions.
Algeria also participated in various ministerial meetings held via videoconference within the framework of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Declaration of Cooperation (OPEC+), the ministry stated.
This included the 193rd Meeting of the OPEC Conference, bringing together ministers and representatives of the eleven member countries of the Organization, dedicated to examining several issues relating to the governance and activities of the General Secretariat.
Discussions notably focused on the functioning of the Secretariat for the current fiscal year and the prospects for the coming year, as well as the strategic directions and priorities of the Organization in the medium and long term.
Algeria also took part in the 66th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), which includes Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Nigeria, and Venezuela for OPEC member countries, as well as Kazakhstan and Russia for participating non-member countries.
This meeting examined the compliance level of OPEC+ countries with their voluntary production adjustment commitments for the months of March and April 2026.
Participants praised the efforts made by the countries concerned on this occasion and emphasized that strict adherence to collective decisions remains a determining factor in ensuring the stability and balance of the international oil market.
Furthermore, Algeria participated in the 41st OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting, dedicated to evaluating the current state of the oil market and its short- and medium-term prospects.
During this ministerial meeting, the 21 countries of the Declaration of Cooperation reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing coordinated action in order to support the stability and balance of the global market, the same source highlighted.
