Algeria-Russia Business Council Explores Technological Partnership Opportunities With Algerian Startups

A delegation from the Algeria-Russia Business Council visited the public accelerator "Algeria Venture" on Tuesday as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Russia, particularly in the fields of technology, entrepreneurship, and startup support.

In a press statement following the visit, the Director of Start-ups and Support Structures at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, Chems Eddine Bemmoussat, indicated that the visit allowed the Russian delegation to discover the components of the national startup and micro-enterprise ecosystem. He also highlighted models of Algerian companies possessing the potential to forge partnerships with Russian, African, and international operators.

The presentations delivered during the visit focused on innovative projects in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, he specified, emphasizing the capacity of Algerian startups to enter international markets and export their services.

For his part, the President of the Algeria-Russia Business Council, Ahmed Azimov, underscored the Council’s interest in developing bilateral technological partnerships, noting that the visit revealed projects that have made remarkable progress in the fields of technology and the knowledge economy.

He added that several of the projects presented possess strong expansion potential and a significant capacity to attract investment from outside Algeria, including from Russia, stating that he discovered an ecosystem conducive to innovative ideas, skills, and investment.

He also indicated that the Council, as a platform bringing together business leaders from both countries, intends to prioritize the technology sector, given its central role in stimulating economic development.

Furthermore, Mr. Azimov emphasized the importance of projects related to artificial intelligence, which has become an essential lever for many economic sectors, highlighting the commitment to encouraging the establishment of Algeria-Russia partnerships in this field.

In the same context, he specified that major Russian technology companies have recently begun establishing a presence in the Algerian market and forming local workgroups, demonstrating their interest in Algeria not only as a market but also as a strategic gateway to African markets.

He concluded by affirming that Algeria possesses the human and economic resources necessary to support a promising technological boom, with the potential to strengthen its position as a regional hub for innovation and technology on the African continent.
