The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Mr. Wassim Kouidri, chaired a working meeting with a delegation from a leading Chinese operator specializing in the extraction of blood derivatives. The meeting focused on a project to establish the first national unit for the collection of blood derivatives, according to a ministry statement released on Wednesday.
Held at the ministry's headquarters, the session brought together executives from the Saidal Group and the Chinese delegation. Participants examined a strategic project to create the first national unit for collecting blood derivatives, aiming to repurpose them for therapeutic use and the production of essential biopharmaceuticals used in treating various diseases and complex medical conditions.
During the meeting, the expertise and technology of the Chinese partner were reviewed, alongside discussions on various technical and regulatory aspects related to the project's implementation. According to the same source, this initiative represents a qualitative leap for the national pharmaceutical industry ecosystem.
On this occasion, Mr. Kouidri emphasized that the project aligns with the state's strategic vision to reduce the import of pharmaceutical products. He added that it constitutes a pivotal step toward building an integrated national health system, thereby enhancing the country's health security and cementing Algeria’s position as a regional player in advanced pharmaceutical industries.
