The Norwegian national team qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup yesterday, Sunday, after defeating its Brazilian counterpart 2–1 in the round of 16 match held at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
The Norwegian team owes credit for advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in its history to its top scorer, Erling Haaland, who netted both goals in the 80th and 89th minutes, while Neymar Jr. scored from a penalty kick in the 90+9th minute.
With this result, Norway will face the winner of the Mexico vs. England match, which takes place at a later time.
