A scientific colloquium dedicated to the "Western Sahara Question: Historical Roots, Current Situation, and Prospects in Light of International Changes" began on Monday in Algiers, with the participation of Algerian and Sahrawi academics and researchers.
Organized by the National Institute for Global Strategic Studies (INESG) and the Sahrawi Center for Strategic Studies under the slogan "Freedom is a right shared by all human beings, and whoever usurps it is a criminal," the opening session of this two-day meeting featured an address by the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to Algeria, Mr. Khatri Addouh.
A lecture on "the historical roots of the Western Sahara question" was also presented by the representative of the Polisario Front, Mustapha Mohamed Lemine, alongside a paper titled "the contemporary reshaping of the international order and the redefinition of diplomatic dynamics in the international management of the Western Sahara question," by Professor Nardjes Felissi from the National Higher School of Political Science.
The first day is dedicated to two scientific sessions. The first, titled "Historical Roots, Decolonization Process, and Legal Challenges," focuses on the historical foundations of the Sahrawi issue and aspects related to international law. The second session, dedicated to "Geopolitical Transformations, Reshaping of the International Order, and Developments on the Ground," examines the regional and international changes surrounding this case.
The proceedings of the second day will cover a third session titled "Social and Economic Dimensions and Strategic Territorial Spaces," as well as a fourth session dedicated to "Narratives, Media Mobilization, Soft Power Diplomacy, and Implementation Frameworks for Joint Support."
The program also includes an intervention by the Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria on "prospects for settlement and a future solution," before the colloquium concludes with a general reading of the recommendations.
