The President of the People's National Assembly (APN), Khalida Boufedech, affirmed on Tuesday her commitment to working with everyone in a spirit of responsibility and consultation to serve Algeria and meet the aspirations of its citizens, calling for parliamentary action to be elevated to the level of the transformations the country is undergoing.
In an address delivered following her election to head the APN for the tenth legislature, Mrs. Boufedech pledged to work with all, "without exclusion, in a spirit of responsibility, cooperation, and consultation, and according to a partnership approach to serve our country and realize the aspirations of our people," through the Assembly, which she described as "a space for debate and a constitutional institution where the popular will is realized through legislation, oversight, and the evaluation of public policy."
She added that this shared responsibility "requires raising the level of parliamentary performance and strengthening the quality of legislation in order to accompany the transformations our country is undergoing and to achieve the goals of comprehensive development."
The APN President stressed that the current juncture requires "the anchoring of responsible dialogue, respect for pluralism, and the building of consensus around major national issues, so as to strengthen trust in this honorable constitutional institution," while ensuring "the consolidation of institutional cooperation and coordination with the Council of the Nation and the Government, in respect of constitutional prerogatives."
On this occasion, Mrs. Boufedech expressed her deep esteem and gratitude to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for "his efforts in leading the process of building the New Algeria and strengthening our country's position regionally and internationally."
She also expressed her gratitude to the People's National Army (ANP), "the worthy heir of the National Liberation Army, and the guarantor of the nation," as well as to all security forces for the sacrifices made to preserve the homeland, the safety of citizens, and the country's stability.
In the same context, the APN President stated that the election, for the first time in Algeria's history, of a woman to head this constitutional institution represents "a landmark moment in our country's journey." She noted that this achievement reflects the scale of the transformations Algeria is undergoing and translates the political will that has made consolidating the state of institutions and strengthening the participation of all national talents a constant choice in the victorious New Algeria.
"This precious trust is a coronation for the Algerian woman and the fruit of a national path that has made promoting the role of women and strengthening their presence within constitutional institutions a wise vision inscribed in an inclusive project aimed at continuing to build a strong, modern, fair, and democratic Algeria, founded on competence and merit," she maintained.
Concluding her address, the APN President took the opportunity to commend the efforts of various public institutions, led by the People's National Army, the Civil Protection services, and local authorities, as well as "the positive response of citizens in fighting the fires that affected several regions of the country," which reflects, she said, "a high spirit of national solidarity and a collective awareness of the gravity of these disasters."
She added that this mobilization and the efforts deployed "testify to operational readiness as well as rigorous coordination, which made it possible to limit the spread of the fires, care for the victims, and protect human lives."
