The Parliament of Murcia renewed yesterday, Wednesday, its support for the Sahrawi people's struggle and their right to self-determination, freedom, and independence.

This came as the President of the Regional Parliament of the Spanish Region of Murcia, Visitación Martínez Martínez, received a group of Sahrawi children.

Martínez praised the "Vacations in Peace" program from which Sahrawi children benefit, highlighting its humanitarian importance and its role in supporting the Sahrawi cause.

She called on Spanish entities for further support and engagement in the program so that more Sahrawi children can benefit from it in the future.

For his part, the representative of the Polisario Front in the region expressed his gratitude to the President of the Regional Parliament and the political parties represented in this legislative institution.

Praise was given to the steadfast support for the Sahrawi people's struggle, while shedding light on the latest developments regarding the Sahrawi cause and the despicable maneuvers of the Moroccan occupying state.

The Sahrawi delegation referred to attempts aimed at distorting the struggle of the people of Saguia el-Hamra and Oued Ed-Dahab.

They recalled the grave human rights violations in the occupied territories and the systematic looting of Western Sahara's natural resources.

The Parliament of Murcia had previously adopted a resolution calling for the organization of a self-determination referendum in occupied Western Sahara.

This coincided with the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

The resolution reaffirmed support for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination.

It also emphasized the rejection of any proposal or attempts aimed at cementing the colonial status quo in Western Sahara.

It is worth noting that the Sahrawi cause enjoys significant popular and institutional support in the Region of Murcia.

Several solidarity initiatives have been organized, such as the "Vacations in Peace" program, which allows Sahrawi children to spend the summer in the region.
