The national football team departed for Morocco this afternoon on a special flight to participate in the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025), scheduled to take place from December 21 to January 18, 2026.

Led by Algerian Football Federation (FAF) President Walid Sadi, the Algerian delegation includes various coaching and support staff as well as 27 players. Notably, midfielder Houssem Aouar did not make the trip and will miss the competition due to a muscle injury.

To replace this last-minute withdrawal, national coach Vladimir Petkovic has called upon Himed Abdelli. The SCO Angers (France) player will travel directly to the host country to join his teammates at their residence in the capital, Rabat. It is in this city that the national squad (Group E) will play their first three group stage matches.

Regarding the Greens' schedule, Mahrez and his teammates will get straight to work with a first session planned for Saturday. This initial training run will allow for final adjustments in preparation for their opening match against Sudan, scheduled for Wednesday at 4:00 PM at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium.
