The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has filed an official complaint with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Football (FIFA) regarding the officiating of Algeria's last match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The complaint is accompanied by a request to open an investigation and take necessary measures in accordance with current regulations.

The FAF also called for a spirit of solidarity and for everyone to remain united around the national team, which is engaged in "a reconstruction phase and part of a process of work and progression."

In a press release published this Monday, the FAF emphasized that the next stage requires "mobilization, serenity, and support from everyone, especially since important deadlines are approaching in less than five months, notably the World Cup finals." The Federation praised "the commitment and seriousness shown by the players and technical staff members throughout the competition."

At the same time, "the Federation cannot overlook the officiating performance observed during the last match, which sparked numerous questions and profound incomprehension. Certain decisions harmed the credibility of African refereeing and contribute nothing to the promotion of continental football on the international stage," the statement reads.

To this end, the national football body announced that it has contacted CAF and FIFA "by filing an official complaint accompanied by a request to open an investigation and take necessary measures in accordance with the regulations in force."

The FAF also insisted on the need to draw lessons from this participation in order to "consolidate the work accomplished and prepare well for upcoming deadlines, with the aim of returning with a stronger and more competitive performance." It affirmed "the continuation of its efforts and the mobilization of all human, technical, and organizational means to preserve the national team's standing."

In conclusion, the FAF thanked the supporters and media who accompanied the national selection, while acknowledging the support of public authorities and renewing its full confidence in the squad, the technical staff, and all stakeholders working for the development of national football.

It is worth recalling that the Algerian national football team was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by their Nigerian counterparts with a score of 2-0.
