The Mauritanian Minister of Energy and Oil, Mohamed Ould Khaled, begins a two-day working visit to Algeria this Sunday, aimed at discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, according to a statement by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines.
During this visit, the Mauritanian Minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising officials from major Mauritanian institutions active in the energy sector, such as the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH), the Mauritanian Electricity Company (Somelec), and the Mauritanian Refining Company (Somir), alongside a number of ministry executives.
According to the statement, this visit falls within the framework of "strengthening the ties of brotherhood and cooperation existing between Algeria and Mauritania, and embodying the shared will to upgrade the bilateral partnership, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbons, mines, energy, renewable energies, and training."
During his stay, the Mauritanian Minister will hold talks with the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, as well as with the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal. Discussions will focus on ways to expand bilateral cooperation, exchange expertise, and explore partnership and investment opportunities in projects of common interest.
He will also hold working meetings with officials from the Sonatrach and Sonelgaz groups to learn about the Algerian experience in the fields of exploration and production, the development of energy infrastructure, and the management of electricity and gas systems, as well as training and capacity-building programs.
The Ministry added in its statement that this visit reflects the "positive dynamic witnessed in Algerian-Mauritanian relations and the common desire to consolidate strategic cooperation and promote integration in the energy sector, serving the mutual interests of both countries and supporting the path of sustainable development."
