The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Mr. Kamel Rezig, presided over a working and coordination meeting. The session brought together ministry officials and representatives from the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF), commercial banks authorized to conduct foreign trade operations, and leasing companies, according to a ministry press release.
Held on Wednesday, this meeting was dedicated to presenting and explaining the recent measures concerning the change of banks or banking branches within the framework of bank domiciliation operations related to provisional import programs. Specifically, it addressed those measures resulting from the suspension of foreign trade activities at certain banks, the same source added.
On this occasion, it was agreed "to adopt a common working mechanism for handling inquiries and concerns, in order to finalize the files as quickly as possible".
Agreement was also reached on the practical modalities for transferring equipment and machinery to leasing companies, with the aim of providing alternative financing solutions for economic enterprises, supporting their activities, and thus strengthening their investment capacities.
In his remarks, Mr. Rezig emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination between the various actors of the banking and financial system, with the aim of facilitating foreign trade operations and improving the accompaniment of economic operators. This specifically concerns procedures related to the bank domiciliation of provisional import programs (for both operations and equipment), as well as financing through leasing, the same source concluded.
