The Algerian Civil Protection Search and Rescue Team has successfully secured its re-classification among an elite group of approximately 60 teams worldwide.
The achievement was secured on Friday evening by the Algerian Heavy Urban Search and Rescue team (HUSAR ALG01), marking its successful re-classification among the global elite.
The team was re-classified in accordance with the international standards of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), an entity operating under the auspices of the United Nations.
The team successfully passed the final operational exercise, which took place in Algeria (April 14–17), under the supervision of a panel of experts from 12 countries.
A statement from the Civil Protection services noted that the aforementioned team has maintained a distinguished professional track record since obtaining its initial certification in 2017.
The team underwent a rigorous and comprehensive international evaluation covering various operational and organizational aspects.
The team succeeded in securing its classification among the elite units capable of full autonomous intervention in disaster zones.
