The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, reviewed ways and means to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Algeria, Mansurbek Kilichev, a ministry press release indicated on Wednesday.
The meeting, held on Tuesday at the ministry's headquarters, provided an opportunity to examine mechanisms for developing bilateral trade, the same source specified, adding that both parties emphasized the importance of intensifying joint efforts to raise the level of trade and tap into the economic potential available in both countries.
Discussions also focused on the prospects of organizing a trade fair for Algerian products in Uzbekistan, aiming to showcase national products and open new markets for Algerian economic operators.
In this context, the two parties agreed to work towards establishing a joint business council bringing together economic actors from both countries, with a view to strengthening direct contacts between business leaders and developing investment partnerships.
Furthermore, they discussed the possibility of moving towards the conclusion of a preferential trade agreement, which would grant mutual benefits and contribute to facilitating trade and promoting economic cooperation between Algeria and Uzbekistan, the press release concluded.
