A delegation comprising experts and engineers from the Ministry of Petroleum of the Republic of Niger is conducting a working visit to Algeria from May 9 to 18. This visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the energy sector, according to a statement issued this Sunday by the Sonatrach Group.
The statement explained that this visit follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 24th in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, aimed at developing bilateral cooperation.
The Nigerien delegation began its visit by holding a technical meeting at the headquarters of Sonatrach's Exploration and Production activity. The meeting brought together the delegation with the Vice President in charge of the activity, Farid Jettou, and his team, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT).
The delegation also conducted field visits to the Data Management Center of the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT), as well as the Data Management Center of the Production Division within the Exploration and Production activity in Algiers.
The visit program includes a series of technical visits to energy facilities and structures belonging to the Sonatrach Group in Boumerdès, including the Seismic Data Processing Center of the National Geophysics Company "ENAGEO" (a subsidiary of Sonatrach), and the Data Management Center of the Exploration Division, as well as the Laboratories Department and the National Civil Engineering and Construction Company "GCP" (a subsidiary of Sonatrach), in addition to a visit to the Algerian Petroleum Institute.
The delegation is also scheduled to travel to Hassi Messaoud to visit the Rock Sample Storage Center, as well as several Sonatrach subsidiaries, including the National Drilling Company "ENAFOR," the National Well Services Company (ENTP), and the National Petroleum Services Company (ENSP).
According to the same source, this visit falls within the framework of the Republic of Niger's efforts to modernize its technical structures in the hydrocarbons sector. It also aims to benefit from the Algerian experience in the fields of petroleum data management, digital infrastructure, and hydrocarbon quality control, in addition to exchanging expertise and the best technical and regulatory practices adopted in the sector.
The statement emphasized that this mission reflects the "high level of cooperation" between Algeria and Niger, and the shared will to strengthen the partnership in the energy field, particularly in the areas of technical capacity building, training, and the exchange of expertise, in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and supports sustainable development efforts in the region.
