The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received today, Tuesday, at the ministry's headquarters, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Bakary Yaou Sangaré, who is paying an official visit to Algeria as part of a major multi-sectoral delegation, according to a ministry statement.
The statement explained that on this occasion, Mr. Attaf held a one-on-one meeting with his Nigerien counterpart, which was followed by an expanded working session with the participation of members from both countries' delegations.
The discussions between the two ministers, the statement added, allowed for "an in-depth and comprehensive evaluation of the practical measures taken by both sides to implement the decisions made by the leaders of the two countries, the President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and President Abdourahamane Tiani, during their talks in Algiers last March."
In this context, according to the same statement, the two sides reviewed the "positive progress" achieved toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in a number of areas identified as vital and priority sectors during the proceedings of the second session of the Grand Joint Committee, held on March 23 and 24, 2026, in Niamey, particularly those related to energy, infrastructure, trade, industry, agriculture, finance, transport, health, and human resource development.
