The public textile and leather group "Getex" has mobilized significant material and logistical resources for the national sheepskin collection campaign for Eid El Adha across the national territory, stated the group's CEO, Toufik Berkani. He added that a digital system has been put in place to facilitate the operation, particularly through monitoring collection and storage points, as well as inventorying the quantities collected.

He specified to APS that this digital system, developed by the group's information systems directorate, includes an internal application to monitor the operation on the ground. Meanwhile, another platform for the general public is being finalized and will be accessible via a QR code to improve the efficiency of the collection system, ensure the smooth flow of information, and strengthen coordination among the various stakeholders, with real-time monitoring of skin storage sites at "Getex" units and technical landfill centers.

The official highlighted that the public group has taken a series of measures to ensure the smooth running of the operation, including the mobilization of 27 "Getex" sites across 17 wilayas with a storage capacity of nearly 1.2 million skins. This is in addition to 30 Technical Landfill Centers (CET) and 73 skin reception sites, as well as the mobilization of approximately 600 workers during the three days of Eid.

The Ministry of Industry launched the national collection campaign for the skins of sacrificed sheep last Saturday, with the aim of valorizing this material by transforming it into an economic resource, thereby contributing to the support of national production and environmental protection.

In this context, the ministry affirmed that citizens are called upon to preserve the skin of the sacrificed sheep, salt and dry it properly, and then deliver it to the dedicated collection points.

To preserve the quality of the skins, Mr. Berkani stated that the quantities of salt required for preservation operations have been provided and will be distributed to industry directorates at the national level to be made available to technical landfill centers and neighborhood associations.

Great importance has been given to training and awareness-raising through the organization of training sessions for 270 supervisors on sorting and preservation techniques. This is in addition to the launch of a media campaign and the broadcasting of explanatory videos on skin preservation methods to improve their valorization.

Regarding the evaluation of the collection operation for the skins of sacrificed sheep from last year's Eid El Adha, the official affirmed that it was "positive," with "encouraging" results "both in terms of the quantities collected and the rate of industrially usable skins."
