Naftal Examines the Establishment of Butane Gas Cylinder Filling Centers in Niger

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Company for the Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum Products (Naftal), Djamel Cherdoud, chaired a working meeting today, Thursday, in Algiers, alongside the Director General of the Nigerien Petroleum Company (SONIDEP), Ali Seibou Hassane. The meeting focused on discussing the enhancement of cooperation and partnership in the distribution and marketing of petroleum products, as well as the establishment of three centers affiliated with the Algerian company for filling butane gas cylinders in Niger, according to a statement by Naftal.

The source explained that these centers would contribute to "enhancing storage and distribution capacities and improving the supply of butane gas to the Nigerien market, in addition to supporting energy infrastructure and accompanying local economic development."

This meeting, held in the presence of a group of executive managers from both companies as well as a representative from the Sonatrach Group, comes as part of a working visit by a ministerial delegation from Niger to Algeria. It embodies the directives of the highest authorities of both countries aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding fields of economic partnership.

On the same occasion, the two sides discussed the possibility of Naftal executing a number of other projects, including a project to supply the Nigerien market with unleaded gasoline and jet fuel (Jet A1) "with the aim of meeting the needs of the air and land transport sectors in Niger and ensuring a regular supply of these vital materials."

In the field of training and the transfer of expertise, "Naftal" expressed its full readiness to support the executives and workers of the Nigerien company through specialized training programs covering various technical aspects related to the storage, distribution, and marketing of petroleum products.

The meeting also addressed cooperation opportunities in other areas, such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG-c) for vehicles and bitumen, "reflecting the desire of both parties to build a comprehensive and sustainable strategic partnership that serves the interests of both countries."
