The African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO) is considering the creation of an African Energy Bank, which stands as one of the organization's top priorities. This was announced by its Secretary General, Farid Ghezali, during his appearance on Monday on the "L'Invité du jour" (Guest of the Day) program on Algerian Radio's Channel 3.
When asked about his organization's priorities, Mr. Ghezali cited "the creation of an African Energy Bank" to finance and boost the continent's projects in the energy sector. This priority stems from a broader objective: "strengthening cooperation between African countries," the APPO Secretary General emphasized.
The African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO)—formerly the African Petroleum Producers' Association—is an intergovernmental institution established on January 27, 1987, in Lagos (Nigeria), at the initiative of Algeria and several other countries on the continent. APPO seeks to strengthen the continent's energy security while adapting to the challenges of the global energy transition by promoting the development of regional markets and infrastructure.
