The Algerian national football team conducted its first training session yesterday evening, Monday, at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa (Algiers), as part of its preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) reported on its official website today, Tuesday.
This first training session, supervised by national coach Vladimir Petković, took place in an atmosphere of "discipline and determination." It lasted an hour and a half and was attended by 22 players, marking the official start of the preparatory training camp, according to the FAF.
The technical staff utilized this first session to assess the readiness of the players present and to initiate the physical and tactical work scheduled for the duration of the training camp.
The national coach is expected to reveal the 26-player roster selected to defend the national colors during the 2026 World Cup next Sunday, during a press conference at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.
Before traveling to the United States, the Fennecs will play a friendly match against the Netherlands national team on Wednesday, June 3rd, at the Rotterdam Stadium (19:45 Algerian time), before facing Bolivia in their final preparatory test on Wednesday, June 10th, in the American Kansas City.
After missing the last two editions, the Algerian national team returns to the global stage in Group J, alongside defending champions Argentina, Austria, and Jordan.
The Fennecs will kick off their tournament campaign on Wednesday, June 17th, facing the Argentine national team at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, starting at 2:00 AM Algerian time.
