The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, stressed today, Monday, in Seoul, that Algeria's commitment remains firm to engage in and contribute to bringing greater distinction to the strategic partnership linking it with the Republic of Korea.

In a speech delivered during his participation in the ministerial meeting of the Africa-Republic of Korea Partnership, Mr. Attaf stated that "Algeria's commitment remains firm to engage in and contribute to bringing greater distinction to the strategic partnership linking it with the Republic of Korea, both in its momentum and substance."

He highlighted that "Algeria takes immense pride in the distinguished and unique strategic partnership it shares with the Republic of Korea," noting that it is "a partnership whose signing we celebrate two decades of this year."

He continued: "In Algeria, we consider this bilateral partnership to be one of the pillars of the comprehensive Africa-Korea partnership, especially since it encompasses projects that transcend a purely bilateral dimension to take on a par excellence continental scale, such as the important project related to establishing the African Center for Information, Communication, and Advanced Technologies."

He also stressed Algeria's eagerness, in addition to this bilateral dimension, to "engage and contribute as well to the development and advancement of the Africa-Korea partnership, a partnership that has consistently continued to diversify and expand."

The Minister of State explained that Algeria's evaluation of the path taken by the Africa-Korea partnership since the holding of the joint summit in 2024 "can be summarized in just two words: satisfaction and ambition." He justified this by saying: "Satisfaction with the tangible progress achieved in implementing the directives and commitments arising from this historic summit, and ambition to achieve further gains on the path towards consolidating the various dimensions of our partnership and capitalizing on its promising horizons, in a way that brings shared and certain mutual benefits to both sides, African and Korean."

From this perspective, Mr. Attaf focused his address on three fundamental aspects, stating that the first relates to "our satisfaction with the clear alignment we have observed between the goals and purposes of the Africa-Korea partnership and the development priorities enshrined in the continental Agenda 2063." At the same time, he praised "the remarkable orientation of the Republic of Korea toward backing and supporting the various mechanisms of joint African action, in a manner that preserves the principle of African ownership over the various inter-cooperation activities."

As for the second aspect, the Minister of State said, it concerns "our appreciation for the practical approach that characterizes this partnership of ours. This approach is clearly demonstrated by the various cooperation programs and projects launched to advance our African continent's priorities across several vital fields, such as intra-African trade, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, modern technologies, digitalization, and innovation." Meanwhile, the third and final aspect reflects "our great ambition and even greater aspiration for the Africa-Korea partnership to contribute to enabling our continent to effectively engage in the revolutions currently reshaping the features of the global economy in the fields of artificial intelligence, digitalization, robotics, nanotechnology, and renewable energies."

Mr. Attaf emphasized that "the priority of all priorities at the current stage lies in preventing Africa from remaining on the sidelines of these revolutions, just as it was previously excluded from the Industrial Revolution while languishing under the yoke of colonialism, and just as it was subsequently sidelined from the Information Revolution while struggling with the remnants and legacies of that same colonialism."
