The Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Professor Abdelhak Saihi, is participating in the proceedings of the 114th session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 1 to 12, 2026. He is heading a tripartite delegation comprising representatives of the government, workers, and employers.

This session, organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), is held under the theme: "A Moment of Choice: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence to Achieve Decent Work."

Participants in this high-level international forum will discuss a range of strategic issues related to the future of the global labor market. The agenda includes discussing the reports of the Chairperson of the ILO Governing Body and its Director-General, alongside matters concerning the program and budget, and various reports on the application of international conventions and recommendations related to the world of work.

The conference proceedings will also address a number of priority files, including promoting decent work in the digital platform economy, promoting social dialogue, and intensifying efforts aimed at combating child labor. This is in addition to examining ways to update certain outdated labor conventions to align with current economic and social transformations and enhance the effectiveness of the international labor standards system.

The file regarding the conditions of workers in the occupied Arab territories is also expected to receive special attention during the conference proceedings, in light of the challenges and difficult conditions faced by Palestinian workers—including oppression, persecution, and mistreatment by the occupying entity—and the repercussions on their fundamental rights and working conditions.

The Minister will deliver an intervention highlighting Algeria's efforts in employing artificial intelligence and digital transformation to promote decent work and social justice, while calling for fair international governance of this technology.

The conference features the participation of delegations representing governments, workers' organizations, and employers from 187 member states of the International Labour Organization, reflecting the pivotal status of this event in shaping global trends related to the world of work.

It should also be noted that on the sidelines of the conference, the Minister is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with several of his counterparts—labor ministers from participating countries—to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences in different fields.
