The Algerian women’s national volleyball team has commenced a preparatory training camp in Pologne (Poland) scheduled to run until June 17. This camp is part of the preparations for the upcoming 2026 African Nations Championship, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 23 to September 5, the Algerian Volleyball Federation announced.

Before the delegation’s departure for Poland, the President of the Federation, Mr. Mohand Tamadartaza, met with the players and technical staff to define the objectives of this camp and offer encouragement ahead of this crucial preparatory phase.

The camp in Poland marks the sixth gathering for the women’s squad since the start of their continental campaign preparations. It will allow the technical staff to further work with the group on technical, tactical, and physical aspects to ensure the team enters the competition in peak condition.

In anticipation of the training in Poland, the coaching staff called up 18 players, including athletes active in both domestic and foreign clubs. This training camp is viewed as a vital step in the national team's ongoing upward progression ahead of the African tournament.

The 2026 African Nations Championship serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. It is set to take place in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, from August 23 to September 5, 2026.

As a reminder, the Algerian team finished third in the last edition of the Women's African Nations Championship hosted by Cameroun. The title was claimed by Kenya after defeating Égypte (3-0), while the host nation secured third place.
