The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, discussed on Thursday in Algiers with the Chairman of the Omani Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, Sheikh Saad Suhail Bahwan, ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of hydrocarbons and petrochemicals and to expand joint investments, according to a Ministry statement.
The meeting, held in the presence of the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Algeria, Saif Rashid Al-Badai, along with Ministry officials, was dedicated to reviewing the existing cooperation between the Sonatrach Group and the Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, and exploring prospects for its development, particularly in fertilizer production projects, especially ammonia and urea.
The two parties also discussed opportunities for expanding the Omani group's investments in Algeria in this field, emphasizing the importance of intensifying technical and commercial consultations and exchanges between Sonatrach and the group in order to materialize joint, high-value-added projects.
In the same context, the talks between Arkab and the Omani Ambassador addressed the level of cooperation between Sonatrach and Abraj Energy Services, notably within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding related to studying cooperation opportunities in the areas of drilling, well maintenance, and specialized petroleum services.
Discussions also covered integrated project services, the exchange of expertise and technical experience, and specialized training in various activities linked to the hydrocarbons sector, according to the statement.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their shared determination to strengthen economic and investment cooperation between Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman, and to work toward elevating the partnership between Sonatrach and Omani companies to broader levels in service of the mutual interests of the two brotherly countries.
