Project for Niamey Electricity Plant Reflects Depth of Algeria-Niger Cooperation and Solidarity

The Director General of Sonelgaz-Electricity Production, Khaled Nouasri, is conducting a working visit to Niger (May 14–16) to monitor the progress of construction on an electricity production plant in the capital, Niamey, according to a statement from the Sonelgaz Group.

During this visit, Mr. Nouasri inspected the progress of works at the site, where operations are continuing at a "steady" pace in accordance with the established roadmap, reflecting "the commitment of the Sonelgaz Group to respecting the set deadlines and ensuring the project's completion according to the highest technical standards and required quality," the statement added.

Mr. Khaled Nouasri was received in a meeting by Niger's Minister of Energy, Haoua Amadou, where both parties emphasized the importance of this project in boosting electricity production capacity and improving energy coverage. This reflects the "depth of cooperation and solidarity relations between Algeria and Niger" and embodies the directives of the country's highest authorities aimed at strengthening African partnership and accompanying fraternal nations in strategic development projects.

He also held a series of meetings with energy sector officials in the Republic of Niger, where he met with the Director General of the Nigerien Electricity Society (Nigelec) as well as the company's Secretary General. On this occasion, they discussed various aspects related to the progress of construction works on this strategic project and the prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of electrical energy.
