The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Professor Kamel Rezig, alongside the Wali of Boumerdes, Mrs. Fouzia Naama, oversaw the opening of the exhibition specialized in confectionery, biscuit, and chocolate products. The event is organized by the Ministry, in coordination with the wilaya of Boumerdes, from May 16 to 19, 2026, under the slogan "Promising Prospects for Export," according to a Ministry statement issued today, Saturday.
According to the same source, the Minister visited the various pavilions of the exhibition, where he listened to briefings provided by the participating exhibitors and economic operators regarding their production capacities, the quality of the displayed products, and the prospects for developing this sector and enhancing its presence in foreign markets. The visit also served as an opportunity to assess the potential of national enterprises active in the confectionery, biscuit, and chocolate manufacturing industry, and the extent of their compliance with quality, packaging, and marketing standards in a way that meets export requirements and international competition.
In a press statement, the Minister emphasized that "the organization of this exhibition aims to accompany producing Algerian enterprises and encourage them to move toward foreign markets by valuing the national product and improving its competitiveness, in line with the national strategy aimed at promoting non-hydrocarbon exports."
Rezig added that the food industry sector, particularly confectionery, biscuit, and chocolate products, possesses significant capabilities that allow it to penetrate international markets, given the quality and diversity of Algerian products. He called on economic operators to invest more in innovation and packaging in order to strengthen the position of the national product abroad.
It is worth noting that this exhibition sees the participation of 71 national companies, including 30 exporting companies, reflecting the dynamism experienced by this sector and the growing interest in developing its export capabilities and enhancing its presence in regional and international markets.
