The Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, chaired the opening of the 1st edition of the National Exhibition of Confectionery, Biscuits, and Chocolate on Saturday in Boumerdes.
In a press statement on this occasion, the minister noted that this event, organized under the slogan "Promising Prospects for Export" and bringing together 71 exhibitors from various wilayas of the country, constitutes "a communication link between the different economic operators" as well as "a favorable opportunity to bring participating companies closer together to exchange experiences and expertise," with the aim of "raising the integration rate and, consequently, reducing the volume of imported raw materials."
He affirmed, in this regard, that the products currently available on the national market are "predominantly locally manufactured," adding that "almost all brands produced in this field have foreign markets," while simultaneously meeting local needs.
After announcing that the Exhibition of Confectionery, Biscuits, and Chocolate—initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion in coordination with the wilaya of Boumerdes—will be organized annually at the same location and during the same period, Mr. Rezig indicated that his ministerial department will work to increase the number of participants in future editions.
The minister also emphasized that this Exhibition, taking place from May 16 to 19 and featuring the participation of the largest specialized companies in the sector, falls within the framework of the ministry's activities aimed at promoting local products that "now enjoy a global reputation" in terms of quality and packaging.
It also aims to promote these products on the national and foreign markets, highlight national production capacities in the agri-food industry sector, and strengthen export opportunities to foreign markets.
