The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Holds Talks With the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Benin

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, met this Thursday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Benin, Ms. Corinne Amori Brunet, as part of his official visit to this brotherly country.

The talks were dedicated to reviewing the current state of bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries and the prospects for strengthening them. Both sides affirmed the shared will of the leaders of the two countries to elevate the Algerian-Beninese partnership to broader horizons, particularly in the fields of energy, agriculture, the pharmaceutical industry, and training.

The two ministers emphasized the importance of activating bilateral cooperation mechanisms by holding the next session of the Algerian-Beninese Joint Commission at the earliest opportunity, alongside convening the first meeting of the Business Council. This aims to inject new momentum into the economic, commercial, and investment relations between the two countries, keeping pace with the potential and opportunities available to both sides.

They also stressed the importance of continuing their positive approach to consultation in various international and regional forums, particularly at the level of the African Union.

Regarding regional and international issues, the two ministers exchanged views on several matters of common interest, foremost among them the developments in the Sahelo-Saharan region as well as the Middle East. In this context, they reaffirmed the importance of enhancing security and stability within the shared regional space. They also stressed the necessity of adhering to the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, while adopting dialogue and peaceful means as the sole path to settling crises and disputes.
